Assessment criteria
You will be assessed according to your ability to:
- • analyse narrative fiction through judicious use of appropriate critical terms and concepts
- • interpret particular novels in ways that take account of their formal distinctiveness while demonstrating an understanding of the broader history of the genre
- • adduce evidence of intelligent engagement with critical accounts of the nature of the genre and of a working understanding of aspects of narrative theory
- • make formal and thematic comparisons between novels while remaining sensitive to the particularity of their historical and cultural contexts
- • develop and sustain complex critical arguments informed by relevant research and a degree of independent thinking.
